edegen@d125.org
Emma Degen was named head girls golf coach in May 2015. She served as an assistant coach in the program for two seasons (2011 and 2014) prior to her elevation to head coach. She also serves as head coach of the girls track and field team, and has been an assistant girls basketball coach since 2011.
Degen led the Patriots to back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018. Stevenson finished fifth in 2018 after taking 12th the year before. The team won consecutive North Suburban Conference championships in 2017 and 2018, going undefeated (6-0) both years. The Patriots have a 36-8 dual-match record in Degen’s four seasons.
Degen played the sport for four years in high school and four years at the college level. At Lake Zurich High School, she was a four-year member of the girls golf team. In 2006, her senior season, she was named team captain and went on to earn most valuable player honors after qualifying for the IHSA sectional tournament. Degen continued her playing career at Winona State University in Minnesota, where she was a member of the team for four years and earned all-conference academic honors in 2008.
