Jim Wood

Stevenson Hockey Coach

In 2002, Jim Wood was hired to the Varsity Coach/Hockey Director for Stevenson. Along with his sons, Tom and Dan, Jim built Stevenson into one of the Chicago area's top hockey programs.

In 2007 the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni Association awarded Jim with the Billy Reay Coach of the Year award. In 2008, AHAI presented Jim with the High School Coach of the Year award at the United Center when it opened.

The Patriots have won two Metro North Championships, two Metropolitan Scholastic Cup Championships, and reached the elite eight of the state tournament seven times under his direction. When the Scholastic Hockey League was formed, Jim saw to it that Stevenson became one of the original members of this competitive high school league. Stevenson remains a member of the SHL to this day and as of this entry is the reigning State High School Champion.

In 2023, Jim was inducted into the Illinois Hockey Hall of Fame.
